The winter weather can take a toll on your skin. Here are 10 tips to keep you looking and feeling your best through the long winter months.
For a while now, I’d been seeing ads everywhere about laser skin tightening, a treatment that promises to tighten skin without surgery. I’d been curious about it and wanted to know how it worked and if you could actually see any results.
So a few weeks ago, when I was offered the chance to try skin tightening, I decided to go for it. But honestly, I was skeptical. This sounded too good to be true.
There was only one way to find out, so I asked a few questions, then booked my appointment. Here’s what I discovered.
On the day of my appointment, I showed up a few minutes early so I could learn more about the process. I learned that skin tightening is a safe treatment that uses the heat from lasers to stimulate collagen and elastin production below the skins surface. It can be done pretty much anywhere on the body including loose skin on the jawline, neck and chin, stomach, love handles, thighs etc.
I decided to try it out on my neck, chin and jaw. The laser was warm on my skin and it felt like a mini massage. It only took about half an hour, less than a facial. I didn’t experience any redness or discomfort at all either during or afterwards.
Although, my Aesthetician recommended a few treatments over a number of weeks for best results, I was told I’d be able to see changes after my first session.
I was cautioned however, that this isn’t magic. Clients have to drink lots of water for the next couple of days after treatments and continue with a healthy lifestyle to get the best results.
I learned that it’s also important to do your research. Before you go in for your appointment, make sure that your Aestitician is professionally trained in the use of laser treatments.
When my session was done, I was pretty impressed that, I could indeed, see an improvement.
These are my before and after photos. I wore no makeup in either picture. I also used the camera my cell phone and there was no fancy lighting to make sure what I was seeing was accurate. I have to say I liked the results. Both my jawline and neck were more defined and the loose skin under my chin tightened right up.
