COVID-19 Advisory

We take the health of our Professionals in Training and Mentors seriously. As such, please review the following COVID-19 Guidelines prior to enrolling in the program of your choice.

COVID-19 Guidelines

NIWE Academy has implemented Social Distancing measures, and also requires Students & Mentors to wear PPE Equipment and frequently sanitize working areas. 


  • If a Professional in Training has tested Positive for COVID-19 and are fully vaccinated, they must isolate from the first day of symptoms, or positive test for a minimum of 5 days or until symptoms resolve, whichever is longer. Following isolation, you must wear a mask at all times when around others for up to 5 more days. 
  • If a Professional in Training has tested Positive for Covid-19 and are not fully vaccinated, they must isolate from for 10 days, starting from the first day of symptoms or the day of the positive covid test.

Salon & Spa Services 

  1. You have a cough, fever, shortness of breath, runny nose, or sore throat that is not related to a pre-existing illness or health condition. 
  2. You have been in contact with someone known to have COVID-19 within the past 14 days.
  3. You have travelled outside of Canada within the past 14 days.
  4. You have tested positive for COVID-19 within the past 14 days.
  5. Unwilling to follow PPE, Safety, or Sanitization guidelines including mask usage.

If you are an international student intending to apply to NIEW Academy, please review and agree to the isolation restrictions so there won’t be a delay in your application process.

We recommend that nobody travels while sick. If you feel sick prior to your scheduled flight, please reschedule and contact us immediately.

All International Students: Please review ArriveCAN prior to arriving at the Canadian Border. 

Both international students and their co-arriving family members must complete the ArriveCAN application within 48 hours of arrival in Canada and complete daily reports as per Government Guidelines.

Students and their co-arriving family members are directed to wear a mask and travel directly to their place of quarantine, as per AHS guidelines. Students are required to make their own travel arrangements from the airport to their place of residence and follow all quarantine guidelines consistent with Government of Canada Guidelines. Students and co-arriving immediate family members are required to secure their own private accommodations prior to arrival in Canada in accordance with AHS and Government of Canada Guidelines. They are directed to remain in this space for the entire 14-day isolation period. Information about accommodations is available in the International Program Guide.

Temporary Lodging (ie hotels)

All international students must self-isolate for 14 days before coming to school. Any student who has an international traveler arrive in their home must isolate for 14 days before re-entering the school. If an individual becomes sick during the 14-day isolation period, they must remain in isolation for an additional ten days from the start of symptoms, or until the symptoms resolve, whichever is longer.
Students may take online studies during this self-isolation period and receive support from their instructor online or via phone until they can enter the school. NIWE has a mentoring program for international students. Students can request to be paired up with students who are Canadian Residents, who can help them navigate the city and country.
