What is the Comprehensive Education Package? 
When you enroll in our Comprehensive Education Package you’ll enjoy a significant discount while you diversify your knowledge and master more in-demand skills.

What will I learn?

As a Professional-in-Training, you’ll enjoy the option to combine any of the following programs to receive a discount and a more in-depth education: Clinical Aesthetics, Hairstyling Technician, Barbering, Esthetics, and Advanced Nails. Unlike other programs that include only theory based education, we take a holistic approach by teaching both technical and practical experience. You’ll also learn how to prepare for an interview, how to manage a business and marketing techniques.

How do I enroll?

It’s simple! Just email or call us at 1-403-453-8200 and ask to speak with an Admissions Coordinator for more information.

What do I need to wear to my classes? 
We’ve got you covered! At the beginning of each program Professionals-in-Training will be assigned a uniform to wear based on the course you’re enrolled in. Further guidelines can be found in our Student Handbook.

Are there any extra precautions or guidance surrounding attending my course due to Covid-19?

We take the safety of our Professionals-in-Training and Mentors seriously. That’s why your first on-site day begins with infection control and Covid-19 training. Our goals include you feeling safe and secure at all times as well as following government regulations and best practices to ensure your safety.

In addition, we offer blended training programs which allows you to learn through our state-of-the-art virtual classroom.

What if I have special training needs?

NIWE Academy is an inclusive space which means we work hard to make sure our programs are accessible to everyone. Simply let your intake counselor know what specific training needs you have so we can work to accommodate them.

Are the classes and exams difficult?

Our mentors work hard to ensure all our Professionals-in-Training get the education they need. That means, as long as you keep up with your studies, you’ll do well in class and on your exams. Your success is our success, so we do the best we can to support you!

How will I be graded?

Professionals-in-Training are graded on theory, practical, deportment, and a final exam.

What is a passing grade?

NIWE Academy’s passing grade is 70%.

What are the requirements for graduation?

Professionals-in-Training must complete their training, required practical hours, and earn a passing grade on their final exam to graduate.

Note* Students with outstanding invoices must complete payment before we can provide diplomas, certificates, and transcripts.

Will I interact with Mentors and other Professionals-in-Training?

Absolutely! Professional-in-Training will have plenty of opportunities to interact with their Mentors and fellow Professionals-in-Training as well as staff and students from NIWE’s other programs.

Do I need to visit the school in person to apply? 
You’re welcome to tour NIWE Academy in person, but it is not required to apply. All interviews, tours, and applications can be done virtually through an Admissions Coordinator.

How old do I need to be to enroll?

Anyone 18 years or older can enroll in our programs.

How do I enroll?

Do you accept transfers from another school?

We do not currently accept transfer credits for our programs.

Should I be a high school graduate, have a G.E.D. or degree to enroll?

You’re not required to be a high school graduate, have a GED, or a degree to enroll.

What are the requirements for registration?

Do you accept International Students? Are the requirements the same?

Yes! We’re happy to accept international students. The requirements are only slightly different. For more information, please read this document.

How long is the Comprehensive Education Program?
Course lengths vary depending on which two you choose. Your Admissions Coordinator can provide more information for you.
Are classes self-paced or scheduled?
Classes are a blend of self-paced and scheduled.

Can I have a special schedule to attend school?
Simply email or call us at 1-403-453-8200 and ask to speak to an Admissions Coordinator if you have specific schedule limitations.
Can I work while I attend NIWE Academy?
Yes! In fact, many of our Professionals-in-Training choose to work while completing their education. Just be aware, the practical training portion requires your physical presence for 2-3 days per week. We offer several schedule options available to help accommodate your work schedule.
I have finished my theory portion. Can I do my practical training whenever I want?
We offer some flexibility to our practical hours. However, there is a time limit in which you need to complete them, so you’ll want to coordinate with your instructor.

What’s included in my student kit?
Your student kit varies depending on the course you’re enrolled in. But don’t worry! It includes everything you need to complete your program and move into the workplace.

After I’ve completed my training, do I need to take an examination to provide services? 
Yes. A final exam within NIWE is required. Additional exams to become fully certified depend on your program and industry. For instance, Hairdressing is a regulated industry, so it is important to complete your own research and discuss this with your Admissions Advisor.

Do you provide job assistance when I finish?

Your success is our success! We have relationships with numerous employers and maintain a 95% or higher graduate employment rate.

Will you guide me in building my own business?

Yes! We’re passionate about helping you build your dream business so you can live the life you desire! You’ll learn how to be everything from the janitor to the CEO as part of our Business Basics curriculum.

When will I receive my certification? 
Certifications are issued about 2 weeks after full program completion.

What if I don’t plan on staying in Canada? Will my license be valid in other countries?

Licensing requirements vary from region to region. Please research the requirements in your community of interest or ask your Admissions Advisor for direction.

Are continuing education credits required to maintain a license?

Most programs do not require any continuing education credits. However, we encourage them in order to stay current in our ever evolving and innovative industry.
